Austin VFW Post 7810 To Celebrate 75th Anniversary May 20 - May 22, 2022

 

Help wanted May 20-22. The VFW is hosting a weekend full of fun to include a carnival all 3 days. The owner of the carnival is looking for some additional helpers for the weekend, if we can get some dedicated people to help out/work he may be able to bring additional rides and carnival stuff. He is willing to pay but we don’t have what he will be paying or if there is a age limit at this time. If anyone is interested call the club 647-8673 and let Roxy know, once we have more details we will share on here.

Public Invited to Attend Pinewood Derby on Sunday

 

Austin, PA

Austin Cub Scout Pack 524 invites the public to attend their Pinewood Derby Race and Cake Auction which will be held on Sunday, February 27^th, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the gymnasium of the Austin Area School. 

 

The pinewood derby is the wood car racing event of Scouts BSA. With the help of adults, scouts design, build, and decorate their own unpowered, unmanned miniature cars from wood, from kits containing a block of pine wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles.

 

Through the process of building and racing the car, the Cub Scout experiences a sense of accomplishment and the excitement of competition, while learning good sportsmanship and having fun.  By attending the race, the community can support this process and encourage the children in their efforts.

 

The annual cake auction will be held in conjunction with the pinewood derby on Sunday. Each scout, with the help of a caring adult, will bake and decorate a cake to be sold, auction-style, with proceeds to help pay for summer camp for the cub scouts.

 

All members of the community are welcome to attend this event on Sunday, February 27^th, which begins at 5:30 pm in the school gymnasium.  Derby car weigh-in will begin at 5:00 pm.
