Angie and I traveled to Austin, Pennsylvania, this past Friday to verify the rave reviews we have heard about Mike Majot's fish fries. The VFW Post 7810 has recently directed that the kitchen located inside the Vet's Club be opened daily and a menu be established. Mike has assumed the duty of Chief Cook and The Friday Night Fish Fry has become his specialty.

Since March 2020, when COVID-19 reared it's ugly head, I've only popped in and our of the Vet's Club a couple of times.
On Friday, I was amazed at the additions and renovations that have taken place. A deck has been added to the outside of the building and a women's bathroom on the inside. A new bar has been added, made possible by the generous donation of Robert Hunsinger Jr. and a POW-MIA Ceremonial Table has been created. A new flag pole has also been erected.

A review of The VFW Post 7810/Vets Club Facebook account reveals they have given generously to local organizations, held benefit raffles and dinners, celebrated holidays, engaged with the citizens of the community, and, conducted many ceremonial activities honoring our country and its veterans.
Below, are some pictures that I've borrowed from their Facebook account:
Lyle Dynda, Post Commander
Lyle served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee which helps explain the quality and workmanship of the many additions and renovations to the club in such a short period of time. Also, a number of skilled craftsmen have volunteered their services to accomplish this feat.
Here are some pictures of the work in progress:
