A Very Special Patron - Williams Gas Pipeline - Transco

At this point in time in the history of Austin, Pennsylvania, it is important to recognize the support and impact of the Williams Gas Pipeline -Transco Corporation, their employees and retirees, have had on the Austin Area School District, the smallest public school district in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

For a number of years, the Williams Gas Pipeline - Transco Corporation has provided substantial financial support to our school, allowing our school to purchase the latest educational technological equipment and materials on the market in order to prepare our student's for today's workforce environment.

The following statement appears in the Community section of their website:

AASD Grad is Health Care Specialist

Laurie is a 1993 graduate of the Austin Area School District, Austin, Pennsylvania. Since graduating from Austin, she has obtained a B.S. degree in Radiography (x-ray) from Misericordia College, Ultrasound Training at the Lancaster Institute for Health Education, and a Master's Degree in Health Administration from Penn State University at Harrisburg.

Laurie was employed as a traveling (contract) ultrasound technologist for ten (10) years.  During that period of time, she worked and visited such places as the San Francisco Bay area, Denver, Colorado, Phoenix, Arizona, Wilmington, North Carolina, Boston, MA, Hartford, CT, and Kona, HI.

She states that Hawaii was her favorite as she was able to kayak, snorkel, zip line and fly over a volcano.  Of course, the weather is fabulous there also.

After traveling for ten (10) years, she accepted a position as Supervisor of a Cardiovascular Lab in Henderson, NC.  Laurie worked in Henderson, NC, for about 3 1/2 years when an opportunity arose in Raleigh, NC, to work as a Vascular Sonographer for a Cardiology Practice.  She worked as a Vascular Sonographer in Raleigh for approximately 1 1/2 years. Laurie indicates that she really enjoyed working with the cardiologists and vascular interventionalists in North Carolina. She learned a lot about cardiovascular medicine while working closely with the doctors in those two medical facilities.

Laurie is currently working as a Clinical Site Manager for a private company in the Boston Area.  She manages 5-6 Ultrasound Sites in hospitals and doctor's offices there.  Her job is to train staff, monitor their quality of work, act as a liaison between techs and radiologists, and assist with various operational functions as well.
