Scott Weidler Makes Donation To Museum

Those of us affiliated with The E.O. Austin Home/Historical Society Museum believe that we have the proverbial "Crown Jewel" at One Town Square on Main Street.

We are not the only ones.

Not long ago a gentleman by the name of Scott Weidler toured our museum.  As he was leaving, he stated that we was retiring from Avery Dennison soon and instead of having a retirement party, he was going to direct Avery Dennison to make a donation to our museum in his name.

In today's mail was a check for $500.00

Thank you very much Mr. Weidler.  It is appreciated.

If anyone out there is looking for somewhere to make a donation for a tax write-off, please keep the E.O. Austin Home/Historical Society in mind.

Thanksgiving At The Austin Area School District

The Austin Area School District is the smallest public school in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  We have just welcomed a foreign exchange student from Ecuador which raises our student population to around 208.

Austin is located in southern Potter County and known for having the second worst flood disaster in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Austin is also known as the hunting and fishing capitol of Pennsylvania.

Here are some pictures of our school celebrating Thanksgiving Day.

Angel Tree For Needy Students

A caring person in our community has set up an Angel Tree in the Post Office so that we who have can purchase a Christmas gift for those who haven't.

There are forty (40) Angels hanging on the Christmas Tree.  Each has a number which identifies a student in need attending the Austin Area School District.  The Angel also lists an item or two suggesting a gift to buy.  However, it is not necessary to buy what is listed. Any new item will do.  Monetary gifts are also welcome as it will be used to purchase gifts for those Angels remaining on the tree.

To participate, Pick an Angel off the tree. Purchase a new gift and wrap it.  Attach the Angel from the tree to the gift and place the gift under the tree.  All gifts must be returned to the post office by December 17th.

The UMC of Austin Annual Thanksgiving Meal

Another reason why Austin, Pennsylvania is a great place to live is the Annual United Methodist Church of Austin Community Thanksgiving meal.  There is no cost for the meal and one does not have to be a Methodist to attend.  As the sign says, it is a Community Thanksgiving Meal.

Pastor Steven and some members of his congregation went all out this year as you can see by the photos below.  The food was great and there was a lot of it.

Serving were Pastor Steven, Tootie Stuckey, Nicole Ford and Sheree Lamer
